Magische accomodatie in Monteverde. De ruimte is prachtig gelegen met een waanzinnig uitzicht. Verder is de accomodatie groot en van alle gemakken voorzien. We werden verrast!
The Nest was an incredible experience. It’s a lot bigger than I expected. It was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The area it is in is so beautiful. It’s just a few minutes from town . The walkway getting to the door is very very steep. But worth every step. It has been my favorite place we stayed in Costa Rica. On our last morning a family of monkeys were at the windows . Don’t think about it Just Book It!
It was a joy to stay at The Jay, we only wish we could have stayed longer! We had everything we needed and the instructions for all the amenities were clear and helpful. The view is incredible and you are surrounded by peace and jungle. The hosts are kind, helpful and responsive. 10/10 would recommend.
We voelden ons onmiddellijk thuis in het prachtige huisje. We hielden van de manier waarop het ingericht was en de kleine details die het extra speciaal maakten. Na een dagje nevelwoud is er niets zo fijn als een warm bad en een goede film op Netflix kijken vanuit je bed. De communicatie was perfect.
We had a great time at the Jay. The lodge was fantastic: very luxurious, clean and beyond our expectations. There even was a large screen and a beamer for a home cinema experience. And the bed was wonderfully comfortable.
The forest around you
Monteverde’s reserves, hanging bridges and waterfalls are all close by. Roads here are steep and winding, so allow more time than the distance suggests.
The town itself — restaurants, supermarkets, banks and most tour offices.
The famous cloud forest reserve. Go early — the trails are quietest and the wildlife most active before mid-morning.
Higher, wetter and far less crowded than the main reserve. On a clear day you can see Arenal volcano.
The best bet for spotting a quetzal, and calmer than the big reserves.
Zip lines and hanging bridges through the canopy.
Aerial tram, bridges and zip lines — the closest adventure park.
A long loop past several waterfalls. Steep in places — good shoes matter.
Gentle trails in the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, and a good sunset spot.
Butterflies, frogs and insects up close — easy with kids.

Before you book
Before your arrival we send the exact location and the access instructions for your cabin, so you know where to go and how to get in.
Santa Elena town is about five minutes down the road. Curi-Cancha is around twelve minutes, the Santa Elena reserve about twenty, and the Monteverde reserve roughly twenty-five.
San José (SJO) is roughly three hours by car and Liberia (LIR) about two and a half. We strongly recommend a car: the last stretch is mountain road, and public transport up here is limited.
Yes, free parking on the property, for one vehicle per cabin. You don’t need to reserve it.
Monteverde is cool and often misty — usually 15–22 °C, cooler at night, and much fresher than the coast. Every cabin has a wood stove and heating, but bring a jacket and long trousers.
You pay the full amount by card when you book, through Tilopay’s secure checkout. Your card details never reach us. You get a confirmation email as soon as the payment clears.
Write to us as early as you can. Cancellation terms are shown before you pay and are included in your confirmation email.
